Your kids and I had a great time in class. We practiced using our intelligent ears by listening for major and minor chords and each kid got to play either the major verse of "I've Been to Harlem" or the minor verse on the autoharp. (They are doing great at keeping a steady beat as they strum!) Each kid got to play "The Dinosaur Song" on the bells either going up or down. They'll get to play it with you sometime during the next couple weeks as part of their playing at home. Remember to show them the notes on page 57 of their homework booklets to play the skip/baby step pattern of the song. Check out the Play at Home Videos if you want to see a demo.
Your kids are all doing well! Continue the music exposure and play time. It’s so fun to see them progress and love music so much. It is my pleasure to help be a part of their growth!
You still have time to enter my studio Spirit Week contest if you haven't already! If your child would like to bring me a drawing or a picture of what they love about Let's Play Music they still can. I just need it by Friday. Text me when you can bring it and I'll make sure I'm home or you can put it in my mailbox. If it's a digital picture, you can send it to me via email or text and I'll print it out for my gallery wall.
If you'd like, you can check out the official LPM Instagram page to enter their weekly or grand prize contest. Pictures and links below.
Dinosaur Song
Yesiree, your kiddo is reading music! They played the “Dinosaur Song” on the bells while reading the written notation. They did it by looking at the patterns of steps and skips. You should be so proud of them!
Baby Bumblebee
Please make sure your child knows this song. I will be asking them about it in class the next two weeks!
