Well, we did it! We have officially completed Green Turtle Shells! Your child is successfully playing and singing songs on the piano - how exciting is that?! We have lots to look forward to in Yellow Arrows as they continue improving their RH playing skills as well as learning to play chords in their LH. Some other things to get excited about are: learning to play a major scale on the piano, learning more completed rhythms, and learning the names of all the white keys!
Thanks for coming and participating with your child on Station Day! It's a different type of lesson and the kids love that one-on-one musical focused time with you. I also love sitting down with each of you one-on-one to celebrate many of the things they've accomplished.
Thank you for taking the time to fill out my Mid-Year Evaluations - it really helps me see where I can adjust and help you the best as a teacher and studio owner. Click below if you didn't get a chance to fill it out or if would like to add some additional comments you didn't think of at the time. OR if your partner wants to add their comments!
Below is an extra copy of the Holiday Break Challenge if you need another copy for any reason. This challenge is completely optional, but your child will be rewarded with music money if it is completed! (And it will really help set them up for success when they start Yellow Arrows!)
I hope you have a wonderful, fun, and safe holiday!! Enjoy holiday music if you can and we'll see you on January 16th. :)
Holiday Ensemble
Fun ways to incorporate the entire family with a Holiday Sing & Play-a-Long!
Student/parent plays chords while everyone sings along. -Play chords an octave higher or lower to change the timbre of the song.
Play as a duet, trio, or quartet. Someone plays melody, others play chords on piano. All Sing!
Play Silent Night with broken chords (Play each note of the chord separately: Do-Mi-Sol, Do-Fa-La, Ti-Re-Sol). Invite someone else to play the melody an octave higher.
Invite younger siblings to play rhythm instruments to add variety while piano is playing: jingle bells, tambourines, drums, etc.
If anyone in your family or friend circle plays any other instruments like guitar, ukulele, violin, cello, etc, have them play along with your child! It is completely exhilarating to have these fun jam sessions!
Wear a costume while you play.
[Re, Sol, Do!]
