We had a lot of fun in class yesterday!
I really like teaching your kids and we all had a great time. We found our groups of two and three "Kit Kats" on the keyboard and learned our finger numbers with our bubble hand. We reviewed the intervals we learned last week and played rhythms with shaker eggs!
Be sure to put red sticker on Middle C (DO)
Last email I sent a couple videos to aid you in finding Middle C on your keyboard. Please put one red sticker on Middle C! (I also told your kids to remind you. :) ) Click here to be taken to last week's email that included a couple videos if you need help locating Middle C on your keyboard.
No parents again next week!
Be sure to send your child with their homework booklet and songbook in their tote bag. Keep up the good work on assisting your child with their homework practice. It shouldn't take long (only 2-5 minutes) and the goal is to get 5 days of practice in. The kids were so excited to earn music money! Their music money is kept safe in an envelope in my classroom and they'll get to add to it every week. As a reminder, if they at least did some of the homework they get 1 Music Money. If they do each section and practice each song 5 times they get 2 Music Money. Then, if they do any bonus practicing (it really could just be one extra on one song), they get 3 Music Money!
Play at Home Videos
I uploaded a few more demonstration videos for the at-home playing this week. Sometimes certain songs are assigned for multiple weeks so if needed you can look at previous lesson's videos. The Play at Home page is meant to be like a directory so feel free to scroll through if this week's video doesn't answer your question. Additionally, if you ever need something demonstrated that I haven't made a video for, please let me know. My goal is to help you feel supported and successful while learning with your child!
Echo Edna
Edna will teach us how to sight sing and sight read. Ask your child about what Edna did in class today.
Kit Kat Keyboard
If you have a digital keyboard at home, discover the fun, groovy beats to chant and play Kit Kat Keyboard with!
Bubble Hands
This week we learned our fingers have numbers. When they do their bubble exercise, ask them to wiggle their 3 finger, their 5 finger, etc. This exercise is important for finger strength and dexterity.
In Let’s Play Music we learn that intervals are Turtle Shells! An interval is the distance between 2 notes. Learn more about the importance of melodic and harmonic intervals in learning how to read and play music HERE!
