Class was great yesterday! We played F major Cadence with both hands separately, played Caterpillar Cousins 3 different ways (legato, staccato, and - just for fun - as fast as we could!), and even learned how we can play a variation of Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star in 3/4 time. AND there were lots of smiles while we did it. Purple Magic is fast and furious and we are learning new things every single week and your kids are absorbing and while they may not be performing every skill right now, they are seeing successes every class. I'm so proud of them, and proud of the time they get to play at home, and so incredibly proud of when they persevere and keep trying when they make mistakes. Your kids are awesome!
We did part of the theory page in class today. Your kids are starting to grasp the concepts taught with this theory page, but may still need help. A picture of the finished theory is on the Play at Home Videos page if you need a reference. Please don't worry if the first two lines don't look perfectly done, just help your kiddo with the second two lines. And please don't forget, that it is practice and if mistakes are made, that is totally fine! Also, if you feel confused please reach out and I can help explain the theory to you.
Parent day is next week! See you then!
Jingle Bells
Our fun Holiday song gave us a chance to add chords to a melody. Just like learning any new language, after you speak it, you learn to write it. Once our fingers get comfortable with playing it we will have another opportunity to transpose from C Major to F Major!
By being consistent and modeling positive reinforcement you can have great success with your at-home practice! Your child will naturally follow what their environment gives them. The incredible paradox is that as you help your child, you can grow too! Here are some video practice tips from a fellow Let's Play Music parent to help remind you of some at home practice Do's and Don'ts!
