Class was great today!
We started class with our first dictation exercise! Check out the first section of their songbook (p. 1) that has the beautiful quarter notes they traced and drew themselves. I'm so proud of their quarter notes and they should be too! We will often be doing dictation at the VERY beginning of class. Please drop your kid off on time (or better yet 5 minutes early) so they don't miss out on this valuable activity.
Play at Home Videos
I uploaded a few more demonstration videos for the at-home playing this week. Sometimes certain songs are assigned for multiple weeks so if needed you can look at previous lesson's videos. The Play at Home page is meant to be like a directory so feel free to scroll through if this week's video doesn't answer your question. Additionally, if you ever need something demonstrated that I haven't made a video for, please let me know. My goal is to help you feel supported and successful while learning with your child!
Caterpillar Cousins
Our old favorite caterpillar is BACK to help our finger strength, coordination, and dexterity! This time we are asking even MORE out of your little musician by requiring their hands to play in parallel motion.
Bounce and Roll
Our first repertoire piece will have your child sight reading and playing hands together. It will also teach us how to accurately execute and recognize the articulation markings for staccato and legato that we experienced physically last week!
[Re, Sol, Do!]
I value open and honest communication so please feel free to contact me if you have any questions, concerns, or comments.
Thank you!
