First of all, I'm so impressed by each child's finished composition! Help your child practice and learn their composition well and please reach out to me if any last minute changes need to be made.
I have some personal news to share with everyone. My sister's husband was diagnosed with stage 4b liver cancer a couple months ago and he passed away this last Saturday surrounded by family members. While his initial cancer diagnosis was bleak, he declined much more rapidly than we expected. This sister and her 5 sons live in Cincinnati and it has been really hard being so far away during this hard time. I will be traveling for his funeral, but these travels will not interfere with any of our future Orange Roots classes.
Because of all this I am feeling the need to simplify our end of year celebrations for Let's Play Music. We will not have a studio end-of-year program on May 3rd as the calendar indicates. Instead of the program, we are going to celebrate each class individually during our last class together, lesson 15, on April 29th. This class is also station day so we will have an abbreviated station day and then the last half of our class will be a fun performance where each student will play their composition. Then there will be a fun hullabaloo of passing out certificates and a special graduation gift for each kid! I'm so excited to celebrate all that you and your child have accomplished the past THREE years!
I will be creating a book of all my 3rd year students' compositions and I need your help. Can you please text or email me a photo of your child from the fall of 2022 (when they started LPM) as well as a more recent photo? Thank you!
Next week is parent day and I look forward to seeing all of you! The last couple of months have been really difficult with my brother-in-law's illness and decline and teaching your kids is such a bright spot. Thank you for sharing them with me and allowing me to have the best job ever. Keep them music alive in your home - - we're almost to the finish line!
We are getting so good at playing our scales in F Major, G Major, and A minor. Check out this fun video to see what it would look like to play your scales with your feet!!!
