Thank you for coming to class yesterday! It was a jam-packed lesson and a lot of fun. Your kids are learning so much and I'm really impressed with all they are doing on the keyboard!
We will not hold class at our regularly scheduled time next week - - instead, I get to see each of your kids separately for their 20 minute private lesson! I'm so excited to help guide your children as they compose their own piece of music. I will be sending out a text confirming the time you signed up for later this week. Here's the Sign-Up Genius link for you to check the time you signed up for.
I am excited to offer some summer camps this summer! I would really appreciate your feedback on my proposed summer camps. Please fill out this survey HERE or click the button below. It should only take a few minutes. Thank you thank you thank you!
Let's Play Music has decided to put the Online Orange Roots Lesson 6 on YouTube so all Orange Roots students can watch it before they attend their private lesson. It gives awesome examples of how kids can approach their composition in different ways which can diffuse any anxiety they may be feeling as well as increase excitement. It's also an awesome reminder of all the musical skills they know and can use to create their composition! I highly recommend your kids watching this video before they come to their private lesson next week.
Watch before our private lesson next week!
I will see your kids next week for their private lesson! They should bring their tote bags with their books inside.Â
Composition
The composition is the culminating event for your Let's Play Music student! We have been experiencing, internalizing, and now labeling many things over our three year development as a young musician. We will rely on our knowledge of : major and minor, time signatures, chord uses and sounds, ABA song form, staccato and legato, theme and variations, block, broken, and marching chords, and MANY other skills that will help your child as they compose and create their own original composition.
Magic Keys
This is our 2nd song to graduate up with us from our purple semester. As we continue to sing (and play this song) we will further expand our understanding of key signatures and note relationships--This is the KEY in transposing music. Our new verse allows us to understand and play in the key of G Major.
Inspiration for composition can come in many ways. Here is a great story about a man who saw birds sitting on telephone wires and it inspired him to create his own composition. Can't wait to see where all of our students get their inspiration from! Excited to meet them all individually next week.
