November is a month to talk about gratitude and the autumn nature around us, but it's also the month when we learn Christmas songs in preparation for our Christmas party next month! You'll notice that most of the songs on the November playlist are Christmas songs. Listen and enjoy with your kids! Click the image for the Spotify playlist.
Our Christmas party is scheduled for Tuesday Dec. 10th and Wednesday Dec. 11th. You will come on the day when your child comes to music class. (In the past I have combined this Christmas party into one day, but I will keeping it separate this year). This party is held in the Sanctuary at SOV. I will pick up the morning preschool kiddos and we will start at 11:35. You are welcome to arrive a little early to get a seat that you want. The kids will sing for you and show you some of the fun we have in class!
One of our favorite songs that we learned in October was "Going on a Picnic". We sang about different foods we could take on a picnic and then we went on our own picnic! We imagined hiking in the mountain to find the perfect place and sitting next to a beautiful lake.
We also practiced singing in a clear head voice by singing "ooooo" along with a cute song called "Got a Little Ghost" by Caspar Babypants.
We listened closely to our major scale and noticed how their are high notes and low notes. We related this to our classical songs we've been listening to also! Can you hear the low and high notes in this piece by Vivaldi? Click HERE to listen to third movement of "Autumn".
We've added rhythm sticks to our instrument box! We enjoyed finding the beat during "Going on a Picnic", "Move to the Beat", "Halloween Parade", and others!
"The Shy Little Monster" is a big favorite in October! We sang as we looked at the book and watched as a sweet and shy monster found courage and confidence when he was surrounded by good friends at a Halloween Party.
Not only did we sing with "The Shy Little Monster", we also sang with another fun Halloween book, "Halloween Parade"! We also enjoyed a book that goes along with "Five Little Pumpkins".
During September we spent time listening and learning about the violin. Then in October we learned about the cello and noticed how the sound is similar, but because it is bigger it sounds lower! We focused a lot on "The Swan" by Camille Saint-Saens from his popular Carnival of the Animals.
Tuition invoice is emailed on the 1st of each month October through April and is due on the 7th.
